Thank you to all our past clients for your support over the years xx

After carrying and delivering your growing baby, your body has been under a significant amount of stress and strain, and has undergone many changes. A post-natal assessment with our Physiotherapists’ who are trained in Women’s Health, can help you understand what is going on with your body, and how to recover safely and correctly.

Your Post-Natal Body

Abdominal Changes:

Diastasis Recti (abdominal separation) is the separation of the connective tissues which join the two sides of the abdominal muscles. It is a naturally occurring condition affecting the majority of pregnancies, and occurs to make space for your growing baby. If not managed correctly in the post-natal period, abdominal separation can lead to ongoing issues such as back, pelvic, or hip pain, poor bladder control, pelvic organ prolapse, and a “Mummy tummy” that won’t go away.

Pelvic Floor Changes:

Your pelvic floor is a group of muscles and ligaments that is responsible for controlling your bladder and bowel, supporting your pelvic organs (bladder, bowel, and uterus), as well as working in conjunction with other muscles to stabilise your pelvis and spine. Pregnancy and labour places a large amount of strain on your pelvic floor which can weaken it through carrying your baby and the trauma associated with delivery. A weak or dysfunctional pelvic floor can lead to poor bladder and/or bowel control, back, pelvic, or hip pain, or pelvic organ prolapse.
